22-23rd April and 30.4-1.5,  The next post


I have been a little bit lazy so the last two weekends are combined in one post.

From Friday the 22.4 to Saturday 23.4 we went together with about 15 people for a pre- CES catch at U Vomacku. 

The star of the day was this male Cuckoo

Then on Sunday 24 we went for a little walk around our bird count area and to look for any Dippers. It was a bit cold with a little sprinkling of snow. We found a Dipper near the stream but no nest.

We did, however, find a Song Thrush on her nest.

The Weekend of 30.4 to 1.5  we did something similar.

On Saturday we went for a walk, near Lipno, it was a beautiful spring day.

Then we slept near Svetlik so we could search for lekking Black Grouse in the morning. Of course I had to do a bit of knitting to keep up with sock madness round 4.

In the morning there was a gorgeous sunrise, we heard the Black Grouse and saw a fox.

We then continued with the 1 hour bird counts. My route was near the river Vltava which was very dramatic, with large boulders. Krystof found a Dunnock's nest, some Crossbills and a Chaffinch.
