My first weekend blog post

I though it would be nice to have a place to share our weekend adventures in the Czech Republic.

I plan to share some photos when the mood takes me.

Friday 15 - Sunday 17 April

Podyji National Park Znojmo

From Friday evening until Sunday Midday we hiked through Podyji National Park near Znojmo in South Moravia. Spring flowers, interesting birds and unusual creatures abounded, even the odd brain fungus. The whole national park is small but well worth a visit especially in spring. Novy Hradek u Lukova is a place that must be on every itinerary no matter what season. The guide there is a fount of knowledge and you can even see the rare Aesculapian snake (Zamenis longissimus), one of the largest European snakes. (although we didn't see it). In total we walked 38 km. we walked from Havraniky Village to Vranov, from where we took a bus back to Znojmo and then walked back to Havraniky.
Krystof should get some of the credit for the better photos.
